Tools to Enable Packaging Connectivity and Circularity

The Idea in Action

Single-use packaging is a significant contributor to the climate crisis, and Polytag offers a comprehensive solution to tackle this challenge. Through two advanced tagging technologies—a GS1-approved digital QR code and an invisible UV grid data matrix—Polytag tracks packaging from production to recycling. This process ensures transparency, improves recycling efficiency, and provides brands, recycling operators, and consumers with critical lifecycle data. The technology helps inform sustainability strategies and incentivizes recycling efforts, creating measurable impact.

The Story So Far

Founded in 2018 and based in Deeside, North Wales, Polytag is dedicated to improving recycling rates for single-use packaging. With a strong intellectual property portfolio, including UK patents granted in October 2023 and additional patents pending in other regions, Polytag is driving the transition toward a circular economy.

By providing connected packaging solutions, the company enables businesses to optimize packaging management, enhance recycling efforts, and reduce single-use packaging waste.
