Collateral Good Invests in Ravel to Drive Circularity in Fashion

Ravel Secures Pre-Seed Funding to Scale Purification Recycling for Blended Textiles
Zürich, Switzerland – March 11th, 2025 – Ravel, an early-stage company in textile recycling, has successfully closed its pre-seed funding round, with Collateral Good joining as a significant investor alongside lead At One Ventures and other climate-focused funds, including Collaborative Fund, Climate Capital, BetterWay, and Moonstone Venture Capital. This funding marks a major step in Ravel’s mission to transform textile recycling through closed-loop purification recycling, specifically targeting blended fiber waste—one of the fashion industry’s most pressing challenges.
Ravel’s proprietary process enables cost-competitive textile-to-textile recycling, tackling the inefficiency of current recycling methods. The company specializes in polyester and poly-elastane waste, producing high-purity textile-derived rPET pellets that can be directly reintegrated into apparel production. By removing dyes and contaminants while preserving material integrity, Ravel offers a scalable, low-energy solution that outperforms traditional depolymerization and mechanical downcycling.
A Critical Time for Textile Recycling
The global fashion industry generates 92 million tonnes of textile waste annually, with much of it consisting of blended materials that are difficult to recycle, according to the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. These garments are only worn seven to ten times before being discarded, with a significant portion ending up in landfills or incinerators, disproportionately impacting communities in the global south. Meanwhile, existing recycling methods—such as PET bottle downcycling—fail to close the loop, leaving brands with limited options for sustainable raw materials.
Ravel’s purification recycling technology provides a price-competitive, low-energy, closed-loop alternative, preserving material quality while efficiently removing contaminants. As bottle-to-bottle recycling mandates create an rPET shortage for apparel, Ravel’s process unlocks a new, transparent supply chain, enabling brands to meet their sustainability targets without compromising on cost or performance.
“At Collateral Good, we only invest in groundbreaking solutions that drive sustainability and innovation. Ravel’s pioneering approach to textile recycling addresses one of the fashion industry’s most pressing challenges—blended fibre waste. Their closed-loop purification process offers a scalable, energy-efficient alternative to traditional recycling, ensuring high-purity textile-derived rPET while significantly reducing carbon emissions and landfill waste. With strong partnerships and a clear pathway to commercialization, we are excited to support Ravel as they lead the charge toward a truly circular textile economy.” – Michael Kleindl, Founder & Managing Partner @ Collateral Good
«Do we have a consumption problem? Probably. Do we have a waste problem? Absolutely. Until we bring obvious economic solutions to the forefront, adoption of sustainable materials and circular economy models will keep bouncing between green premiums and clever marketing. Ravel is here to change that. Our purification recycling for blended fibers will redefine how our generation views and values materials.» – Zahlen Titcomb, CEO @ Ravel
